Description

The Mathews Laboratory at the Lundquist Institute/Harbor-UCLA seeks a qualified Research Associate to support ongoing studies in murine models of Ataxia-Telangiectasia (A-T). The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of in vivo and ex vivo experimental procedures in accordance with institutional guidelines.

Responsibilities include: - Performing rodent brain surgeries, including stereotaxic procedures. - Conducting behavioral testing (Rotorod, CatWalk, Beam Balance, and related paradigms) and subsequent data analysis. - Maintaining colonies, performing animal husbandry, and ensuring adherence to IACUC standards. - Processing tissues for histological analysis, including immunostaining and fluorescent microscopy. - Maintaining detailed records of experiments and assisting in preparation of reports, manuscripts, and grant submissions.

Required Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field (Master’s preferred). - At least three years of research experience , with emphasis on neuroscience or cell/molecular biology. - Demonstrated proficiency with rodent brain surgeries, behavioral assays, histology, and microscopy. - Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with in vitro electrophysiology and cell culture. - Familiarity with computational tools such as Python, Matlab, or ImageJ.
