POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT - The Medical Financial Partnership-Research Evaluation Coordinator (MFP) based in the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services and affiliated with UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine is seeking a full-time Research Associate to support research and evaluation activities to understand the impact of services including a two-generation economic and social support intervention for low-income families in prenatal, perinatal, pediatric, and family medicine care clinical settings. - This position will primarily support one or more multi-year studies of the implementation of the MFP services, evaluating the health impact of the MFP model. Working with a team of clinicians and researchers, the research associate will carry out activities and methods for rigorous evaluation with the support of other evaluation team members and the MFP Co-Directors. - Major responsibilities include day-to-day activities of the studies, such as participant outreach, recruitment, enrollment, data collection via surveys, focus group facilitation, data quality assurance, and database curation for qualitative and quantitative research activities. - Job Qualifications: The candidate will have exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize assignments, and the ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish fluently. Attention to detail and professional communication skills are essential. The candidate will have experience working independently in the field and the ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with participants and clinical intervention team members. B.S. or B.A. degree required, with further training or experience relevant to the role preferred.
TYPE OF SUPERVISION RECEIVED
This individual must use a high level of communication to carry out the responsibilities of the position, identify problems, and recommend and implement solutions and meet evaluation program goals. Supervision is provided by the MFP Co-Directors and an Evaluation Coordinator, with consultation and guidance provided on at least a weekly basis for each project and as needed. Research activity reports and meetings will be used to review goals accomplished and progress.
Responsibilities:
Proj ect Activities - Study enrollment and data collection - Plan and attend project meetings, including internal team meetings and off-site meetings with collaborating agencies - Maintain databases - Preparations for presentations - Other duties, as assigned
Research Activities - Facilitation of data collection or data collection: facilitate focus groups and/or interviews, administer surveys electronically or via hard copy, in-person or remotely - Facilitate or conduct recruitment and consent with potential and current research participants - Coordinate data entry - Review and/or edit data to ensure quality control; identify and address problems with data in collaboration with supervisor or Pl - Create and/or maintain databases, including those used for tracking and study monitoring as well as those used to house data - Other activities, as needed - Required Skills, knowledge, and experience:
- Skill and experience in clinical research in the medical safety net
- Knowledge of policies/procedures related to human subject’s research
- Self-direction and motivation for handling a high volume and a variety of activities
- Experience establishing and/or maintaining a cooperative working relationship within and outside of a professional setting
- Ability to organize/prioritize work assignments with minimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish
- Ability to travel to study sites multiple days per week
Preferred Skills, knowledge, and abilities: - Experience in clinical settings and clinical evaluation - 2 years prior health-research related experience\ - Knowledge of human services, social work, medical, and/or related service sectors
