The Lundquist Institute is looking for a Degreed Nutritionist to join our team!

Required Skills & Qualifications:

The position of Degreed Nutritionist requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics. Must have in-depth knowledge of maternal and child health and nutrition. Is responsible for conducting nutrition and health education activities and performing nutritional and breastfeeding/chestfeeding risk assessments for low-risk and high-risk WIC Program participants. Must have a valid California driver's license, proof of personal auto insurance, and dependable personal transportation with current California registration for traveling to WIC sites and the administrative office for meetings. Must be willing to become proficient in basic conversational Spanish.

Description of Duties:

• Performs nutritional and breastfeeding/chestfeeding risk assessment and follow-up • Conducts individual and group nutrition education and breastfeeding/chestfeeding support for low-risk and high-risk participants in the WIC Program utilizing motivational interviewing and other participant-centered education techniques as appropriate • Documents care plans, assessment data, follow-up notes, and referrals in the Woman, Infant, and Children Web Information System Exchange (WIC WISE) database • Reinforces Medical Nutrition therapy when made available by Health Care Providers • Consults with physicians, Lactation Consultants, and other health professional staff relating to participants who have special health care needs, breastfeeding problems, and therapeutic formula prescriptions • Conducts presentations to WIC staff on a variety of program and nutrition topics • Is responsible for other tasks as assigned to support WIC Program site operations • Must be willing to work flexible hours
