SYSTEMS AND SECURITY ADMINISTRATOR sought by LA Biomedical Research Institute at Harbor – UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, CA

Duties:  Deploy, administer, and manage the lifecycle of server operating systems, including statistical servers, and other research computers. Research, test and deploy updates and resolve any related issues. Configure and maintain SSL VPN systems. Configure, maintain and troubleshoot Active Directory. Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot Windows Server applications. Support desktop deployment and maintenance.  Configure, maintain and troubleshoot VEEAM backup and recovery systems with periodic testing. Configure and maintain SCCM and automatic tools for deployment and inventory management. Configure and manage Office 365. Maintain Exchange server infrastructure. Assist with configuration, integration, and management of VoIP systems. Develop and publish IS administration processes, e.g., end user management. Research and recommend innovative and automated approaches for system administration tasks. Perform daily system monitoring and provide escalated support to end users. Follow and enforce established IS policies and report deviations to IS management. Communicate with vendors. Ensure data security and integrity. Manage the development and implementation of policies, standards and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of information security and meeting compliance requirements. Application of the following: understanding of information systems, security infrastructure and architecture interdependencies; knowledge and awareness of industry trends and threats related to information security and compliance; current security tools, Palo Alto, Pulse Secure, Fortinet and Endpoint Security; and knowledge-based related of controlling and securing systems platforms, database platforms, endpoint platforms, and network infrastructure. BCP/DR development, implement and maintain, perform recovery as directed and periodic testing. Configure and maintain the monitoring and auditing system. Perform all other systems and security administrator duties.

Requirements:  Seven (7) years of experience as System Administrator, Information Security Officer or related occupation. Experience must include enterprise computing, Windows server/systems administration, and Linux system administration; administration of Microsoft Windows server products, cloud-based services, information security and high level information security infrastructure and frameworks; supporting research computing and handheld and mobile devices; working on virtualization, VoIP, wired and wireless network functionality, IT management principles and frameworks, and project management frameworks including Waterfall and Agile; utilizing enterprise storage; integrating Macintosh in an enterprise environment; working on backup, disaster recovery, and information security; following and enforcing information security policies, technology standards, and processes; developing policy and procedures to support information security goals; developing and implementing infrastructure security best practice; experience in network protocols, LANs, WAN, VPNs, Routers, Firewalls, encryption, wireless, MDM, WAF and IDS/IPS systems; experience with ESXi, Vcenter, and VMWare enterprise features; and experience with Microsoft system center 2012.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field, plus Five (5) years of experience as System Administrator, Information Security Officer or related occupation. Experience must include enterprise computing, Windows server/systems administration, and Linux system administration; administration of Microsoft Windows server products, cloud-based services, information security and high level information security infrastructure and frameworks; supporting research computing and handheld and mobile devices; working on virtualization, VoIP, wired and wireless network functionality, IT management principles and frameworks, and project management frameworks including Waterfall and Agile; utilizing enterprise storage; integrating Macintosh in an enterprise environment; working on backup, disaster recovery, and information security; following and enforcing information security policies, technology standards, and processes; developing policy and procedures to support information security goals; developing and implementing infrastructure security best practice; experience in network protocols, LANs, WAN, VPNs, Routers, Firewalls, encryption, wireless, MDM, WAF and IDS/IPS systems; experience with ESXi, Vcenter, and VMWare enterprise features; and experience with Microsoft system center 2012.
