Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Neuroscience, Physiology, Biology, Microbiology or a related Life Science discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in specific research areas (e.g. molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology) is essential
  • Must have experience with mouse colony management
  • Previous experience or background in neuroscience is a plus
  • Must have significant experience in molecular biology techniques
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of the scientific principles, methods and processes (technical and/or theoretical) used to conduct scientific research, including experimental design, methods of data collection and analysis, and the interpretation and reporting of results
  • Demonstrated capability in grant writing and manuscript preparation

Description of Duties:

  • Leads research projects in collaboration with PI, post-Docs and lab staff
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts and grant preparation
  • Perform mouse colony management, including genotyping, and maintaining and expanding transgenic colonies
  • Perform cell culture experiments
  • Perform microscopic imaging analysis using a confocal microscope
  • Train students and technicians
  • Manage laboratory records, lab supplies and other administrative related activities
