The Lundquist Institute is looking for a Part-time Project Coordinator to join our team in our Torrance, CA location

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors B.A/B.Sc
  • English proficiency required
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • 6 months of prior experience in basic science or clinical research
  • Ability to assist with project submissions and compliance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of current developments/trends in area intra/extramural research.
  • Ability to determine informational needs, to collect and analyze information, and to devise as needed.
  • Database management skills.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and prepare reports.
  • Ability to provide technical advice and information to faculty submitting projects.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal and Institutional regulations.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and/or community funding sources and mechanisms.

Description of Duties

  • Coordinates the planning and preparation of research proposals for the department; provides guidance and assistance to investigators in the interpretation of Institutional regulations and requirements.
  • Serves as a liaison between investigators and the Institution.
  • Prepares and compiles all components of research project submissions, ensuring that the proposal is formatted, packaged, and submitted in accordance with Institutional requirements.
  • Advises and/or assists as appropriate in the design, formatting and preparation of project documentation, to include creation of computerized statistical summaries and/or graphics.
  • Develops and maintains specialized databases and systems for recording and tracking research proposals, awards, and related statistical information; creates and distributes standard and special reports, as required.
  • Develops and maintains a library of reference documentation, including such information as Institutional requirements and forms, investigator profiles and curriculum vitae, abstracts and reference literature, and other pertinent material.
  • Provides advice and guidance to researchers on the application of Institutional policies, regulations, and procedures; facilitates and supports the research and identification of funding opportunities on behalf of investigators, as appropriate.
  • Maintains knowledge of research funding policies, regulations, and procedures; disseminates and/or presents changes to department and advises on the implementation of changes, and on the impact of changes on operations.

The Lundquist Institute is a non-profit scientific research organization dedicated to saving lives not only in the greater Los Angles metro area but throughout the world. The Institute has over more than 120 principal investigators and 400 researchers in total — MD’s, MD/PhD’s, and PhD’s — working on over 1,000 research studies. We are academically affiliated with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and work in partnership with the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Our research is funded by many sources including grants from the NIH and other government entities, Industry and teaching contracts and royalties, as well as private donors and other non-profit foundations.
