Job Description

The Manager - Annual Giving will be responsible for the management and coordination of The Lundquist Institute’s comprehensive annual giving program. The individual works to engage and increase commitments to the annual fund while maintaining strong donor retention year-to-year. The Manager will be responsible for setting annual fund goals and benchmarks, including strategy, planning, and communications.

Importantly, he/she will oversee, manage, and execute the communications calendar for Development, building an annual plan for annual and leadership-level donors. Within these communications, the Manager will lead the creation and execution of targeted mass-solicitation projects, including but not limited to: electronic solicitation, direct-mail, tele-fundraising, crowdfunding, and peer-to-peer fundraising, as appropriate.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following):

  • Lead, create, and build mass-marketing materials and mass-solicitations at the Annual Giving level
  • In collaboration with the Office of Public Affairs, oversee all Development and fundraising-related communications, including donor stories, newsletters, and updates
  • Conduct leadership and annual gift solicitations via email and phone call, and have preliminary conversations about increased giving with donors/prospects
  • Build segmented solicitation groups in partnership with Donor Engagement and Moves Manager, and develop strategic communication plan therein
  • Secure sponsorships for events, both existing and newly formed
  • Serve as project manager for staff giving program
  • Create reports for Institute leadership summarizing strategy for annual fund and leadership giving
  • Create and manage calendar of communications for the annual fund, conducting personalized follow-up therein
  • Develop, implement, and manage a program focused on retaining and re-engaging unmanaged historical donors and supporters

Annual Fund Pushes

  • Co-manage and oversee the annual Giving Day at The Lundquist Institute
  • Serve as manager and content creator for all annual giving pushes throughout the year
  • Build contact lists and manage messaging: postal mail, email, phone call, text
  • Solicit sponsorships and in-kind donations for key events occurring throughout the year

Data Integrity and Updating in Salesforce

  • In coordination with the database manager, actively update information in donor database (Salesforce) in accordance with Institute policy
  • Input contact reports as-needed in Salesforce
  • Document all communication campaigns in Salesforce

New Initiatives and Other Duties as Assigned

  • Participate in building dedications, gift celebrations, galas, and other events as needed
  • Service on ad-hoc committees as assigned/necessary

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or 4-6 years of related experience
  • Understanding and sensitivity to diverse donor populations
  • Experience in a similar role with demonstrated record of success
  • Ability to share specific examples of success and references
