Required Skills & Qualifications:

  •          Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related science field; Masters or PhD highly desired.
  •         5 – 7 years’ experience in a similar position, ideally with some experience in an academic administrative or research role
  •         Prior experience with organizing and managing social events
  •         Microsoft Office certification highly desired
  •         General understanding of biomedical research, medical terminology and general    life sciences disciplines           
  •           Well developed writing skills – ability to draft newsletters, reports, publications, etc.                                                   
  •        Well organized.  Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  •         Ability to work as a member of a team
  •        Ability to interact in an appropriate and professional manner
  •        Demonstrated cooperative behavior and positive-problem solving and conflict resolution skills

Description of Duties:

Scientific Affairs: With a good knowledge of the ongoing research at The Lundquist Institute (TLI),  work with Principal Investigators and Research Program leadership in the setting of agendas for research meetings, assist in determining recruitment priorities for research new hires, research and provide information on potential awards and honors and assist in research grant application preparation.

 

Community Relations: Partner with community outreach and education programs to inform the community of relevant research projects at TLI, as well as to inform of potential opportunities for participation in relevant clinical research.

 

TLI Research  Infrastructure: Coordinate the enhancement of instrumentation and research  facilities on campus through investigating new and relevant technologies, work with Investigators and Staff on research related capital projects and renovations, and work to facilitate optimal interaction between investigators and TLI Support Services.

 

Fundraising  and  Public  Affairs: Partner with Investigators in the analysis and recommendation for fundraising opportunities through government grants, foundations and donors, as well as through assembly and collation of materials for Public Affairs to use in web­ based, broadcast and published collaterals

 

Government Affairs: Under the direction of the President/CEO, working with consultants and lobbyists, assist in the preparation and dissemination of needed briefing materials for City, County, State and Federal governments and their elected officials.

Salary Range: $150,000 – 200,000 per annum
