Associate VP - Financial Management

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, Masters desirable
  • Active CPA license highly desired
  • Requires 10+ years experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in accounting and/or finance. Experience in a non-profit/academic/research environment highly desired
  • 5+ years supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Expert level knowledge of full cycle fund accounting, GAAP, all related accounting standards, and guidance applicable to non-profit organizations
  • Advanced background in accounting/financial software systems. Experience with Financial Edge desired
  • Advanced skills in developing internal controls and accounting business policies and procedures
  • Advanced skills in budgeting and forecasting practices and models
  • Background in financial statement preparation with the accompanying analyses and commentary
  • Background in grants accounting and federal indirect cost recovery
  • Background in overseeing annual financial statements audit, A-133/single audit, retirement plans audits
  • Effective approach to cash/treasury management
  • Experience monitoring debt covenants and compliance
  • Effective hands-on management skills and team leadership abilities
  • Effectively communicate  complex finance and business concepts to a wide array of constituents
  • Detail oriented and data driven mind set
  • Ability to work as a member of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines

Description of Duties:

  • Oversee all accounting and finance functions for the Institute
  • Oversee full cycle accounting processes including monthly/annual close and financial reporting
  • Oversee accounting systems, maintain the integrity of the general ledger, financial reporting, and business processes within the system
  • Oversee and support annual audit and special audits
  • Support treasury operations, cash flow monitoring and banking relationships
  • Develop internal controls, implement best practices, policies, and procedures
  • Partner across the Institute with all departments on accounting and business needs
  • Develop and supervise an accounting team that effectively supports the Institute
  • Directly support and partner with the CFO and senior leadership on financial reporting needs, special projects, and initiatives

Salary Range: $190 - $225,000 per annum
